This project was completed in collaboration with the stakeholders from Woodstock Hospital’s senior leadership team and Diversity and Inclusion committee.
The Diversity and Inclusion committee requested I create banners with the word “welcome” translated into a variety of languages to represent the diverse community that Woodstock Hospital serves. The 14 banners will be hung in a row across 7 light posts in Woodstock Hospital’s visitor parking lot.
I researched the Woodstock and Oxford County censuses to determine the 14 most common mother-tongues and had “welcome” translated by a 3rd party translator. I created the 2 core illustrations using abstract shapes to create human forms—allowing anyone to see themselves portrayed on the banners. The line-art illustrations that are nested within the core illustrations were created to represent life in Woodstock.
